Especially, the calligraphy as the landmark in Jeollabuk-do have been continued by the many calligraphers with the long history and many calligraphers are active until now. This is the pride of Jeollabuk-do and motive power of being today's calligraphy biennale.
The calligraphy is art with a writing brush creating a new world and it has formed unique traditional culture since humanity created letter.
Dynamics of strokes of the brush which inoculates letters with spirit show very unique stage in the traditional culture.
Today, the calligraphy has been changing with the flow of modern art as a modeling language and a diversity of the forms has tried through omnidirectional art expressions. The World Calligraphy Biennale of Jeollabuk-do as the place of the international exchange serves for informing Korea.
I'd like The World Calligraphy Biennale of Jeollabuk-do to see the yesterday, today and future of the calligraphy. Also I wish that it develops calligraphy culture as a precious cultural heritage so, it will be the leading role and a contents creating another Korean wave.
Lastly, I'd appreciate all the artists who willingly allow their precious masterpieces to be exhibited, authorities concerned who have prepared for the successful World Calligraphy Biennale, and citizens of Jeollabuk-do for their lavish encouragement.
